Release Notes

Installation Instructions

1. Download the APK using the button above
2. Enable "Install from Unknown Sources" in your Android settings:
   • Go to Settings → Security → Install unknown apps
   • Select your browser or file manager
   • Toggle "Allow from this source"
3. Open the downloaded APK and tap "Install"
4. Grant required permissions when prompted
5. Set BliVI UI as your default launcher by pressing the Home button and selecting BliVI UI

Welcome to BliVI

The interface designed for total accessibility.

Navigation & Layouts

The screen is divided into tactile zones. You can customize the layout in Options > Configure Gestures

• 3x3 Grid (Default): 9 balanced zones.
• 3x4 Grid: 12 zones for more shortcuts.
• 4x4 Grid: 16 zones for maximum shortcuts.
• Bar Layouts: One large main area with a sidebar of smaller buttons (Top, Bottom, Left, or Right).
• Simple Layouts: Split horizontally or vertically.

Touch Interaction

If you are NOT using TalkBack:

• Touch & Slide: Dragging your finger across the screen announces the zone name and its assigned apps.
• Double Tap: Launches the app assigned to this gesture. Like swipes, you can customize which app opens when you double-tap a zone.
• Swipe (Up, Down, Left, Right): Launches the app assigned to that specific swipe direction.
• Tune Left / Tune Right: Place two fingers close together and rotate them in a circular motion (like turning a radio dial). Rotate counter-clockwise for Tune Left, or clockwise for Tune Right. Each zone supports both tuning gestures.
• Long Press: Opens the Options Menu for the zone you are touching.

Note: Each zone supports 7 gesture assignments: 4 swipes + double tap + tune left + tune right. BliVI UI will speak zones and list that zone's contents.

If you ARE using TalkBack:

BliVI fully supports Android's Accessibility Suite.

• Explore by Touch: Drag a finger to hear zone descriptions.
• Activate: Double-tap anywhere to simulate a click (launches primary app or opens menu).
• Gestures: Standard TalkBack gestures apply.

Special Modes

Large Button Mode

You can convert any specific zone into a "Large Button". In this mode, the zone ignores swipes and acts as a single big button for one app. Any zone can become a button. To use a Large Button:

1. Long press within the zone you want to change to open the Options Menu.
2. Select Configure Gestures and toggle Large Button Mode at the top.
3. Back on the home screen, tap the zone.
4. It will prompt you to select an app.
5. Pro tip: A button can be reassigned by long pressing on the existing button and selecting the new app or action.

Note: To change the button back into a normal zone, return to the Configure Gestures screen and toggle Large Button Mode off. When you disable Large Button Mode, the zone will revert to your previous gesture mappings (if any were set).

The Options Menu

Long press any zone to configure it:

• Configure Gestures: Map apps and system functions to swipes.
• Large Button Mode: Simplify the zone to a single click.
• Add/Remove Widget: Embed a live Android widget.
• Set Backup Folder: Choose a location (Google Drive, Local Storage) to store your layout backups.
• Export Settings: Save your current configuration or share it to another app.
• Report Bug: Send logs to the developer.

Backup & Restore

BliVI UI has automatic user defined layout restoration.

1. Set Up: Go to Options > Set Backup Folder and choose a permanent location for your backups.
2. Export: Use Export Settings to save your current layout. The file will be named automatically based on your active grid (e.g., blivi_settings_3x3_grid_default.json).
3. Restore: When you switch layouts in Configure Gestures > Grid Layout, BliVI will check your Backup Folder. If a matching file exists, your settings for that layout will be restored instantly.

Smart Features

Status Report

Map any gesture to System: Status Report to hear the current time, battery level, connection status, and your location with intelligent context:

• Nearby landmarks: "Near Tim Hortons, also near Shoppers Drug Mart and Scotiabank"
• Highway/interstate navigation: "On Interstate 95, Exit 23, Main Street" or "On Highway 401, Exit 42, Yonge Street"
• Coordinates fallback: If no landmarks or highway data available, provides precise GPS coordinates

Perfect for quick orientation without unlocking or navigating. Works with GPS permission enabled.

Hide Apps

Declutter your app list by hiding apps you never use (like system bloatware). Go to Options > Hide Apps to select which apps to remove from your view.

Zone Naming

Personalize your grid by giving custom names to zones. Instead of "Top Left", you can rename a zone to "Social" or "Work". Go to Options > Configure Gestures > Rename Zone.

Audio Landmarks

Enable unique audio tones for each zone to build a mental map of your screen. Higher pitches indicate top zones, while lower pitches indicate bottom zones. Toggle this in Options > Configure Gestures > Audio Landmarks.

Compass Orientation

The System: Status Report now includes your cardinal direction (e.g., "Facing North-East") to help you orient yourself in your environment.

New System Actions

Map gestures to control system functions directly:

• System: Flashlight: Toggle the torch on/off.
• System: Do Not Disturb: Silence notifications instantly.
• System: Read Notifications: Hear a summary of your active alerts. Say "Read WhatsApp notifications" to filter.
• System: Voice Command: Tap to speak commands like "Open Chrome" or "Find coffee".

Nearby Search

Use the Voice Command action to find nearby services offline. Say "Find coffee" or "Search bank" to hear the closest locations from your downloaded landmark database.

Personal Landmarks Management

You can now manage all your points of interest from a single location in Options > Personal Landmarks Management:

• Manage Landmarks: View all your saved locations in a list. Tap any landmark to edit its name, type, or coordinates.
• Add Landmarks: Create new private locations using your current GPS coordinates and reverse geocoding.
• Download Landmarks: Fetch community-contributed landmarks specific to your city or sync your private collection from the server.
• Private Cloud Sync: Landmarks are securely tied to your license key and kept private to you across all your devices.
• Export/Import: Manually save to or load from JSON files for local backups and sharing.

Deep Shortcuts

BliVI supports Android App Shortcuts. When assigning a gesture, look for apps with expanded options (like "Navigate Home" in Maps or "New Message" in WhatsApp) to launch specific actions directly.

Read Aloud

BliVI UI can read any text for you. Use the Read Aloud feature to read text from your clipboard, or use the share sheet to share a link, document, or article from any app (like Chrome or Gmail) to BliVI UI's read aloud feature and easily read wherever text.

License

BliVI offers a free 7-day trial. This is not a subscription. Your license is verified securely against our server. We have improved license reliability so that temporary network issues will no longer interrupt your access. If you are switching devices, please contact me and I will happily transfer your license to the new device. You can unlock the full version in Options.

BliVI UI uses landmark data from OpenStreetMap to provide nearby business and point of interest information in status reports.
